Hey friends, so it's been so long since our last post, it's been a really busy year, and less time to blog. To get back on track, i would be talking about exfoliating the skin and its benefits in this post.
why did I choose this topic? well, most women fail to see the benefit of body exfoliating. The topic to most women seems to be "just not relevant" why?? some may say "I use the best body soap so I don't need it" while others might say "my skin is healthy enough I don't need it." Well ladies you do need to exfoliate your skin, why? you might ask. well, thats what we would be talking about in this post. I did some research and would like to share them with you. So first off:
What is Exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the removal of dry and dead skin cells as well as dirt from the skin, these dead cells clog the pores, and prevent proper hydration and care of the skin.
Why is it so important to Exfoliate your skin?
Research shows that as we grow older, the process by which our cells reproduce slows down. When these dead cells continue to remain on the skin, they then make the skin look dry, dull, and rough. and this could lead to clogging of the pores, caused by the excess oil, and then leads to different forms of blackheads.
Benefits of Exfoliating the skin?
As stated above it can help in reducing your risks of getting blackheads, and also reduces hyperpigmentation and fine lines. It also helps with hydration which leaves the skin glowing, and healthy. it improves your body's texture, which speeds up the renewal of the body cells, stopping your skin from becoming dull, and dry, but bright, smooth, and even skin tone. Exfoliating the skin can also help you get a better result when you shave. And what's even better it helps in fighting aging, as we become older our skin becomes more drier which leads to wrinkles and rough skin which can lead to us aging faster than we should. More importantly, it also helps your skin care products absorb better into your skin, which has not been clogged by dead cells and dirt.
How often can you Exfoliate?
It is most often advised to exfoliate once or twice a week; most people love to do that almost every day. but it is best to monitor the kind of product that is best for your skin before you begin exfoliating. in most cases if you have delicate and sensitive skin exfoliating twice a week can be too much or if you have oily skin more than twice a week could work. before you begin exfoliating try to know your skin type, monitor your skin, and also if possible get a recommended product from your cosmetologist.
Methods of Ex foliating
As said above, you should know that each skin type requires a different method. Here is a list of ex foliation methods:
Grainy Exfoliators:
This type of ex foliating method this common, made with different kinds of beads, could be jojoba, apricot, walnut, etc. These grainy scrubs are best for normal to combination skin types.
Facial Skin Care Brushes:
This method is good if you have dry skin. Use this with a cleanser or gentle cleansing soap, and they also come in electric forms which have been said to work faster. And it has also been said that using a brush for ex foliating works faster than any other exfoliating method. Never use a brush with synthetic bristles, they are too harsh for the skin.
Powdered Exfoliators:
This method is really good for sensitive skin. From the name you know they come in a powdered form, it is a new form of exfoliation, but according to research, most Asians have been using them for a very long time. This method is also very effective for removing dead cells and dirt.
Chemical Exfoliators:
This method is good if you have sunburns, acne, or fine lines. It is like a chemical peel but less intense, they are made out of natural acids from fruits or other organic ingredients. If you have acne on your skin go for products with salicylic acid and for sunburn try something with hydroxy acid.
Always remember to apply a moisturizing lotion after ex-foliating to reduce redness and drying.
There are some natural methods that can be used to exfoliate the skin, but more information on that would be in another article very soon I promise.
I do hope that you lovely readers would consider exfoliating your skin after reading these if you have not been doing so. why not make this part of your beauty regime from now on and sure you would see lovely results.
